Hi, my name is Liz Huggins. I live in Bucksport, Maine, a lovely spot on the Penobscot River. I am retired from teaching and administrative leadership. I have three grown children, a daughter and two adopted sons. I come from a family with twelve children, seven boys and five girls and have worked in different fields since I was fourteen. |

I have been happily married for 38 years and am now a Mimi-great thing to be! Mickey Mouse is my favorite rodent and I try to visit him yearly.
Women are a source of stability and strength, often times trying to accomplish many different things at once, not taking time for themselves. I am a Coach Training Alliance, Certified Life Coach for Women. My goal is to help dynamic/motivated women who are working toward expanding their own lives and meeting life's challenges. I am not a counselor or therapist, I am here to ask questions, clarify goals and help my client's listen to their own voices and learn to trust in their own wisdom! |

| Peggy called and wanted to enlist some help with a tough decision she’d been struggling with for several weeks. She had an opportunity to change positions in her company but, the position she had paid well, she was established and felt reasonably content. The opportunity she had been presented with would allow her to travel more, increase her pay and benefits, award her an opportunity to advance in the company and learn about other careers that were available within the company. The problem was, the new position had not been well defined. She wasn’t sure who her superior would be, what her responsibilities would consist of, how much authority she would wield if things got difficult…lots of unanswered questions. After speaking with Peggy for a while, she decided that she would like to continue our coaching relationship and we set up a convenient time for her to call me for a regular session.
Before our first regular session, I sent Peggy some questions to ponder and be ready to talk about when she called. As planned, she called and I helped her clarify what she wanted to “bring away” from this session. She and I made sure we had a definite end-goal in mind and she began to address the questions I had sent her. Our session lasted about 45 minutes that first evening and Peggy had made some decisions about what she needed to know before she could seriously consider making a career move. We set up our time for the next meeting and she called back, having had her information ready to share.
At our second session, I asked Peggy how she was feeling now that some of the more critical concerns had been addressed at work. She was feeling much clearer about what a change would entail and decided that she would like to explore the pros and cons of changing positions. She talked for a while, I asked her to think about her long-term goals and what, if anything, would making a change do to help her achieve her goals. At the end of our second session, Peggy had decided that she was going to look more closely at what she really wanted for her future and how staying in her current position, or changing positions, would do to help her realize that future.
It took a few more sessions for Peggy to clarify her goals, understand her options and the implications of either decision. She ultimately decided to “go for it”! She had continued regular sessions with me and we’ve been able to work together to ease the transition. I’m happy to report she is doing well and I know she’ll go far in her life! |
